These beads used to be a mineral water bottle, but then the bottle was broken into shards, the shards cut up into small stripes and these were then made into beads.
A real family project: my daughter drank the sparkling water, my husband cut up the glass and I made the beads ;-)

of some kind and when the bead went into the kiln it looked like a complete failure.

Visiting Manuela and her wonderful and whimsical beads.
While we chatted away, my daughter was inspectiong all her beads and of course we had to buy beads. I chose a dragonfly and my daughter got a kitty bead:
We also visited Dora Schubert and had to spend some money there as well.
She talked me into letting my daughter have a try at lampworking herself...now she is nagging me every day...we will see.
I bought a heart press and we watched some glass demos and then we drove on to Rotterdam which was only about 50km away and did some sightseeing there as well.

This is another bead from my winged creatures series; inspired by the sea.
The transparent base is a shining Aqua, clothed in a sparkling layer of hundreds of pure silver dots.
A protective layer of crystal clear gives the bead depth and the dots more sparkle.

This picture was taken from our front door. The lighning had struck into a house about 50 metres away from us into the chimney. It took more than one hour to get the fire out because as my husband told me later, they could not access the area where the fire started, it was in a small unaccessible "room" at the top of the house, near the chimney.
It was a very scaring experience...
Thank God no one was hurt.

I love to go shell hunting on the beach and watching the sun sets.
Each time we got there I also take a bag with my "second choice" beads and leave them in the sand, in little excavations in the stones of the windbreaker walls etc and then sit down to watch when people walking on the beach find them.

so I took the plunge and spent some money on etsy buying lots of small bags with wonderful little coloured murrinis inside.
Her is the first test bead made with some murrini from Lori and Kim.

Here I decorated it with a simple band of SIS and encased it in a thick layer of crystal clear.

I have several shelves full of relative thick glass rods from an unknown provenience. They are mostly from the 1950's and 1960's from an old glassblowers shop. I guess most of it should be some old Kugler or Friedrich Glashütte, but I am not sure. I am not sure about the COE either...
